This is an exciting opportunity to join and develop within our dynamic and data first finance team. As a valuable member of the Accounting and Control team, you will play a pivotal role in getting under the hood of our core revenue streams and respective data, improving processes, and providing comprehensive analysis to give us greater confidence and understanding. Please note, this is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.

The role & things you’ll be working on

This role will report to our Senior Finance Manager and form part of the Accounting and Control Team - a crowd of 13 in total forming the engine room of the SE finance function. Leveraging large data sets, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of our reported figures at month-end, maintaining a robust control environment, and aligning our reported figures with our in-depth understanding of the business. This supports strategic decision making within the business and further strengthens our confidence in our regulatory and financial reporting.

Main responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate recording of revenue and costs from travel products by manipulating and comparing large data sets.
  • Conduct month-end variance analysis on revenue streams and related working capital balances, leveraging insights for forecasting enhancements.
  • Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations, offering insightful analysis to identify discrepancies and drive improvements.
  • Leverage data to streamline activities, reducing manual intervention and enhancing overall financial control.
  • Collaborate with the finance transformation team to reduce the complexity of our financial records and enhance accounting system functionality.
  • Assist with year-end accounts preparation, acting as a key point of contact for audits and other ad-hoc reporting requirements.

You will bring

  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot tables, LOOKUPS, SUMIFS, with a strong aptitude for learning SQL, Power Query, and leveraging AI technologies.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commercially minded approach.
  • Proactive problem-solver with a track record of enhancing processes and delivering measurable results.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively with colleagues at all levels of management.

And you are..

  • Minimum part-qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent), with demonstrated progress beyond foundational levels.
  • Someone who is keen to have real ownership within a business.
  • A technically confident team player with excellent communication skills.
  • A self-starter who can deliver high quality outputs independently.
  • Pragmatic and commercially aware, with excellent attention to detail.
