About The Role
As an Engineering Manager L5 you will be the best coach for the people on the team. You will own the individual growth of everyone in the team, as well as the growth of the team itself. This includes among others:
- Design your team with headcount planning and hiring.
- Use Radical Candor feedback creating a continuous feedback culture.
- Grow your team, helping them in scaling their technical and soft skills through mentoring, coaching and career planning.
- Empower engineers, letting the team own the delivery of value. Being a helpful hand by unblocking, giving feedback and advice to let them achieve their goals.
- Help product managers alongside the technical lead in the definition of the road-map.
- You will be passionate about recruitment and work on building your team, Interviewing and hiring for different positions.
- Work to minimize and manage dependencies between teams.
- Produce and manage metrics into the team to identify how we can improve to reach the peaks.
- Decision making. You will need to make decisions in uncertain situations, although you will use data to reduce it, still, you will need to be decisive.
Our Daily Stack:
- Technical stack: TypeScript, React, Jest, React Native, Auth0, etc.
- We run our services on AWS in a multi-cluster environment.
- We add tests to everything using React Testing Library with Jest and develop E2E tests to execute them in an automated way.
- We log what's going on internally using Sentry.
- We have our CI/CD with GitlabCI and we deploy several times each day.
- We've started using Hooks and we like to make everything a bit functional.
- We share code and create internal libraries and npm packages.
- Design tool: Figma
- Project management and knowledge: JIRA, Notion.
- Communication: Slack, Meets.
What We're Looking For:
- A coach who inspires trust and leads by exemplariness. Care for others.
- Team first thinking and active listening
- Passion for delivering great products, appreciating engineering best practices over "raw" speed
- Hands-on coaching and management experience
- You know how to design your teams and the communication for fast flow
- Great communication skills. Including the ability to effectively communicate in English
- Positive attitude and an optimistic personality
- Productive and result-oriented, with an energetic attitude.
The Hiring Process:
- Recruiter Screen: We would love to meet interested people and their motivations in a first 30 min call with one of the People team members.
- Hiring Manager Interview: You will be invited to a first call to discuss about leadership and coaching, team dynamics and hiring and onboarding.
- Role Play Interview: In this step of the process, you will meet 2 Engineering Managers and represent a role play of different situations happening in a team and in the last 30 minutes we will simulate a code review. (1:30h)
