Zendo is an early-stage energy tech startup on a mission to decarbonise computing power. We’re building the Energy OS, a software platform that helps data centers optimise consumption and utilise greener, cheaper energy to power customer workloads. Having recently raised $2M+ in pre-seed funding, we’re now looking for exceptional technical talent to help us build, scale, and shape the future of our product.

📈The Opportunity

AI is driving data centres’ electricity consumption to more than double, from ~460 TWh annually today to a projected 1,000 TWh by 2026. That’s roughly equivalent to the electricity consumption of Japan! This is an opportunity to join the current founders as the first full-time engineering hire to tackle this problem for an incredibly fast-growing industry and have a significant positive impact on the environment.

🔎What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an infrastructure-savvy founding engineer to join our team at this exciting phase of our journey. You will work directly with the founders to shape the product direction and own all technical decision-making, infrastructure and deployment. You will lead on building our entire technical stack from scratch - we’ll need you to roll up your sleeves to write production-level code, rapidly iterating as we seek product-market fit. Meanwhile, you’ll be laying the foundations for our engineering culture and building a high-performing team.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

• A proven track record (5-7 years) delivering Enterprise SAAS products
• Full-stack engineer (or strong backend/frontend with broad exposure)
• Proven experience building MVPs quickly and scaling later
• Experience working in fast-paced startup environments (bonus: you've been a founding engineer / first hire before)
• Strong sense of ownership and ability to operate at both tactical and strategic levels, with a bias toward execution
• Ability to weigh technical trade-offs and communicate them clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Nice to have:Some experience with DevOps, infrastructure, or platform engineering
• Experience working in the energy sector
• Experience hiring and leading small technical teams

📍Location
