As the Team Leader the role is tasked with leading the Company’s Operational Financial Crime Compliance team, proactively collaborating with other teams (Compliance\Data Analytics\Product etc) to improve and measure performance.

The Zai brand focuses on mid-market and enterprise-level business customers in the world of integrated financial services, including payments, FX, fraud management, reconciliation, and more. While the CurrencyFair brand continues as the home for consumers and small businesses who want faster, cheaper foreign exchange. 

Zai has over 170 employees, growing to 450 by 2025 and we are now expanding our presence across APAC, Europe, and the US. We are looking for skilled, motivated, and passionate people who want to be part of the next generation of financial services.

Role

The primary roles and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • As the team lead, you will act as the first point of contact for Financial Crime & Compliance (FCC) operations; actioning escalations from your cross-functional teammates with the utmost care and attention.

  • Act as a champion for the customer for all FCC-related decisions, actions, and touchpoints whilst adhering to all regulatory/compliance frameworks.

  • Responsible for ensuring the day-to-day FCC operational activities and SLAs are consistently met and exceeded.

  • Work with the operations manager to develop KPIs to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of controls, and take action to continuously improve KPIs and overall process performance.

  • Assist in the handling and resolution of complex operational and customer complaints in line with company policy

  • Responsible for the controls within FCC - working with the Operations Manager and Operational QA Manager to ensure that there is a focus on the control environment within the teams

  • Contribute to operational and AML audits and regulatory meetings as required.

  • Engage in one-to-one meetings with direct reports, coach team members, and act as the point of escalation for the team

  • Reporting to operations manager, senior management, and the business as required.

  • Consistently model behaviours aligned with our vision and values

Experience

  •      3+ years experience within at least one of the following financial crime operational process (business onboarding/CDD or transaction monitoring)

         Highly proactive and self-starting with experience in taking on additional tasks and delivering projects to deadlines

         Strong interpersonal skills and capability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

         Experience in working with financial services regulation

         A strong sense of professional curiosity and purpose, with a willingness to learn

         Strong written and verbal communication skills

         Experience in leading a team
