Music Expert (Product Team)
About AIMS
AIMS is a music tech scale-up that’s already revolutionized AI music search for some of the world’s biggest music and media companies, including Warner Chappell PM, Big Machine Label Group, Universal PM, and many more. We’re entirely bootstrapped and profitable, operating as a fully remote team of music and tech lovers based all over the world.
The Role
We’re developing new features rapidly: natural language search, playlist generation, search refinement – and our bottleneck is no longer building things, it’s knowing whether they’re actually good. We need someone who can look at a set of search results or an auto-generated playlist and immediately tell us: “Yes, I’d send this to a client” or “No, and here’s why.”
You’ll be embedded in our product team, working directly with our product lead, designer, and developers. Your job is to be the client in the room — the person who knows what a music supervisor actually needs and can judge whether our tools deliver it.
What You’ll Do
- Evaluate search results, playlists, and feature outputs against real-world briefs and use cases (60% of your time)
- Provide structured feedback: ratings, notes, specific examples of what works and what doesn’t
- Participate in product discussions, helping the team prioritize features that genuinely add value to clients (30%)
- Be the go-to person when anyone on the team asks “would this actually be useful?” (10%)
What You’ll Need
- 5+ years at a production music company (APM, Universal Production Music, Audio Network, Extreme, or similar)
- Experience either servicing client briefs or curating/tagging catalog — ideally both
- The ability to articulate why a track or playlist works or doesn’t, not just that it does or doesn’t
- Comfort with spreadsheets, written feedback, and video calls
- Fluent English
- Minimum 20 hours/week availability with at least 4 hours daily overlap with CET
Nice to Have
- Experience with Commercial Music Sync
- Experience on the client side
- Familiarity with music metadata and search systems
Logistics
- Remote, contractor basis
- Europe-based preferred for timezone alignment
- Part-time (20+ hrs/week), with potential to grow to full-time for the right person
