The Role
As a freelance Local Marketing Content Creator, you’ll use social media and guerilla marketing tactics to reach and grow a large, diverse and progressive audience in London – and help ensure our local shows are the go-to place for people to discover their next favorite artist.
Day to day, you’ll focus your efforts on creating copy and content for our local marketing channels, and designing posters and flyers to share around town.
You’ll report into the London Operations & Engagement Manager to ensure we’re executing on campaigns and overall brand strategy. This is an incredible opportunity for folks who live and breathe music and marketing – and who want to build a career that includes the best of both worlds.
Please note: this is a fixed-term contract role for 6 months. During this time you will be expected to work 10-15 hours per week which are flexible, but we do require you to attend at least 2 shows per week which are in the evening. Candidates must be based in London.
What you'll do:
- Content Ideation: Develop creative concepts aligned with our brand and our brand values, with a focus on engaging and supporting local creative communities
- Content Creation: Film, edit, and produce high-quality short-form and long-form content, including Reels, TikToks, stories, and posts.
- Community Engagement: Actively engage with followers, respond to comments, and foster community growth.
- Scheduling & Posting: Deliver on a content calendar that is co-created with the London Operations & Engagement Manager. We expect a minimum of 1 post per day on Instagram, daily stories and 2-3 posts per month submitted to our global TikTok.
- Trend Spotting: Stay ahead of social media trends, platform updates, and viral challenges to keep our content fresh and relevant.
- Collaboration: We want you to fully immerse yourself in Sofar Sounds and our community, working closely with our Concerts team to capture and showcase all members of our community, including artists, venues, crew and ambassadors.
Who you are:
- You have entry-level experience owning and developing social channels around artist discovery, live events, or local neighborhood content
- You have a pulse on the most up-to-date social trends and the shifting music landscape for the younger generation of music tastemakers
- You’re a natural copywriter and know how to hook an audience
- You have a base level understanding of Instagram
- You have experience in photo/video editing within Canva, Capcut, etc.
- You understand what content hits on what platform, have experience with community management, and feel energized by testing, growing, and evolving our social presence.
- You enjoy working collaboratively with a team while executing a smart, impactful strategy.
- You possess a natural love for storytelling, particularly in the short form.
- You possess exceptional time and project management skills.
- Graphic design experience is a plus
