We’re looking for a star performer to join our Team at Skin + Me, collaborating with our engineering and NPD (New Product Development) teams as an innovation engineer . This role is five days a week, predominantly based in our Park Royal Factory in London. The role will require occasional working from our Paddington office.

About the role:

As an innovation engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in the end-to-end launch of new products. You will work alongside multiple teams to enable the rapid production and scale-up of these new products. You will also work with suppliers and our in house commercial teams to ensure processes are efficient and deliver great value to our customers. The role would suit anyone with an engineering background but with a real desire to develop a broad range of business skills.

What you’ll do:

• Managing the design and development of product packaging, in-store displays and bespoke machinery for our brand-new products
• Effectively project manage development to enable rapid delivery to the market
• Continuously improve and optimise the design of products, packaging and displays to enable an efficient and cost-effective delivery of new products
• Maintain sight and control the COGS (cost of goods sold) for new products
• Act as the link between our creative design and engineering teams, ensuring new products have the quality look and feel of our existing products
• Get involved with the hands-on building of new machinery, packaging and displays
• Sourcing and working closely with external companies to source materials and engineering services to deliver high quality products
• Negotiate effectively with suppliers to ensure great value for our customers
• Working closely with our supply chain team to manage ongoing procurement once our new products become BAU (business as usual)

Who you are:

• An engineering or product design university graduate
• Highly skilled and experienced in the world of engineering and product design
• Able to understand and optimise complex processes, particularly in a manufacturing context
• Commercially savvy with a history of driving business improvement
• Entrepreneurial, taking on accountability for continuously driving innovation and high performance
• Curious and excited to learn about new and complex processes, technology and products
• A motivated character who takes pride in the quality of their work
• Experienced in dealing with external suppliers as well as across multiple teams within your organisation
• A creative problem solver who can quickly and accurately get to the root cause of issues and put in place effective mitigations
• Experienced in start-ups or high growth companies
• Familiar with production environments such as factories
• Experienced working with CAD. Further experience with Illustrator will be desirable
• Previous experience in physically designing and building technical machinery will be beneficial
• Experience in packaging and the associated engineering is desirable
