We’re looking for an Analytics & Data Engineering Lead to join the Team at Skin + Me in a hybrid working role with three days a week in our Paddington HQ (Mon, Tue, Fri) and two days remote.

This is a truly exciting opportunity to land as the first data hire in a rapidly growing, highly profitable, pre-exit, mission driven, data informed start-up.

For the first 4 years of its life we worked towards building Skin + Me into a profitable business that can scale. This meant building everything from scratch to have complete control over the customer experience.

We now own everything from raw ingredients in to finished goods out, from the sign-up flow to the laser-printed box designs, from the brand, to the medical conditions we can treat.

On our journey to market-leading metrics and product-market-fit, we have generated huge volumes of data which we are yet to leverage. That’s why we are now making our first investment in building our data function.

About the role:

In this role you’ll be responsible for Analytics & Data Engineering at Skin + Me.

Taking total ownership of data infrastructure and analytics engineering across the business, to ensure we leverage data to maximise business and customer outcomes. High level goals are to increase life-time-value per customer, decrease acquisition costs, increase scale of sign-ups, and decrease our costs!

Over time you’ll partner with the senior leadership team to develop the medium to long term data strategy - including people, processes and technology. Whilst in the short term you’ll play a hands-on role as a hybrid Analytics & Data Engineer.

This role will report directly to our CTO, who was the first London data science manager for Facebook and built out their London team. Our CTO is also one of our 3 co-founders of Skin + Me, and therefore the data team has representation and a strong advocate at the highest level of the company

What you'll do:

  • Take total ownership of data infrastructure across the business, to ensure we leverage data to maximise business and customer outcomes.
  • Robustify the existing Skin + Me data infrastructure, and design+implement complementary infrastructure for our new businesses.
  • Develop our data foundations to ensure we collect, and aggregate data to be able to answer important questions - and do so at scale, efficiently and with minimal downtime as the business changes and grows.
  • Implement specific data projects - e.g.
    • COGS modelling
    • Metrics trees for CFO/Finance analysts.
    • Automating ingestion of spend data from Meta/Google into our data warehouse.
  • Own our data infrastructure - including operational table / logs scraping, pipelining, reporting, dashboards, and self-serve data tools.
    • How can we optimise/cache data warehouse data to improve dashboard/report speed.
  • Design and develop bespoke self-serve dashboards - e.g. experiment dashboard, or new business unit dashboards.
  • Work closely with tech leadership to develop requirements around operational data model changes and internal tooling.
  • Own predictive machine learning model deployment, and contribute to model design/training, e.g:
    • Providing real-time LTV prediction to ad platforms at the point when customers complete billing.
    • Internal LTV/retention forecasting models for business/product decision making.
  • Be involved in developing the data strategy, and culture of the business. Guiding business leads and the senior leadership team on the journey.
  • Be involved in developing the medium to long term data strategy - including people, processes and technology.
