Why We Exist
The world is moving away from rigid ownership models in favour of more flexible, affordable access. Yet the $1.5 trillion device market has barely moved.
Our mission is to transform how technology is bought, used and reused — creating better outcomes for customers, brands and the planet.
What We've Built
Raylo is the subscription infrastructure that enables leading electronics brands, including PlayStation, HP and Dyson, to move from one-off device sales to recurring subscription programmes that increase conversion, deepen loyalty and capture more lifetime value.
We have over $100m ARR, we’re profitable, growing fast, with over a quarter of a million subscriptions across consumers and small businesses. Customers trust us too, with a 4.5/5 Trustpilot rating from more than 25,000 reviews.
For customers, the experience is simple: subscribe to a device, get support throughout, upgrade when you want, and return it when you’re done. Behind that sits an AI-powered operating system that executes and manages device subscriptions end to end: credit and fraud decisioning, lifecycle operations, and the financing engine that enables brands to run subscription programmes at scale.
Brands can unlock a powerful new growth engine with Raylo across embedded checkout, Raylo.com and the customer app — converting more DTC customers, reaching subscription-first demand, and driving repeat upgrades that compound customer lifetime value.
The impact of our circular model is big. We cut emissions per device by around 50% compared to buy-and-discard. We’re B Corp certified, backed by Macquarie, NatWest and Channel 4 Ventures, and recognised by Tech Nation’s Future Fifty.
How We Work
AI is changing what small, ambitious teams can build. Companies that embrace it will define the next decade.
Raylo is uniquely placed to benefit. We combine proprietary technology and data with the orchestration of physical assets, operating across credit, fraud, pricing, logistics, refurbishment, resale and customer care. With AI improving every cycle, our moat deepens with scale.
At Raylo, AI is woven into how we work every day. We don’t ration access or hedge our bets. Our people use the best models and tools, and we expect them to do things that weren’t possible a year ago. Processes that used to be good enough are being rebuilt. Teams are replacing spreadsheets with bespoke tooling, and anyone can query our data layer in plain English and get a real answer in seconds.
We give every team their own hackathon: a chance to step back, start with a blank sheet, and ask: if we were starting today, how would we do this?
The more we automate, the more human judgement matters. AI gives people back time, and we expect them to spend it on the things no model can replicate: conversations, trust, craft and team judgement.
We hire to a high bar. You’ll work with people who push you, raise your game and expect you to do the same. We want every person at Raylo to do the best work of their lives, and enjoy doing it.
Our Core Values
💡 Be deeply curious – We thrive on innovation through diverse approaches, views, and people.
👟 Walk in your customer’s shoes – To build the best products and make the best decisions for the long term, we must figure out what our customers need, not just what they want.
🎯 Focus and execute – We have a big vision, but we believe in nailing the most important problems first.
💥 Be gritty – Only gritty teams succeed. Our individual ownership, passion, and perseverance mean we’re a team through thick and thin.
Your Team
Strategic Finance sits at the centre of Raylo, working directly with our co-founders and leadership team rather than tucked away in the back office. You'll report to our co-founder and CFO and work closely with our co-founder and CEO. The team owns the financial model, budget and forecasts across the UK, US and globally. It is also responsible for business partnering across the company - aligning on commercial OKRs with each division, driving capital allocation decisions, and thinking about risks and opportunities no one else is thinking about. You will help the SLT run their divisions more effectively and will hold them to account.
Because Raylo retains ownership of every device used by our customers, rather than selling them outright, our capital structure is complex and innovative, more so than almost any other business at our stage, combining equity fundraising with a sophisticated device-financing engine. Very few finance teams get to work on a problem like this. The people at Raylo who do, need to be able to handle complexity, and even thrive in it.
As we scale to $1bn ARR and, ultimately, an IPO, this team's work only gets more important. Every fundraise, board conversation and major strategic decision runs through Strategic Finance, relying on the team’s commercial and technical expertise. You’ll see up close how a high-growth, profitable business finances itself, and help shape that story.
What You’ll Do
- Set the direction and priorities for our financial model, budget and forecasts across the UK, US and globally. You'll challenge and guide the work of two strong direct reports with investment banking experience and make the calls on how to model and consider complex problems
- Set quarterly and annual growth targets with our CEO and leadership team, covering new customers, acquisition spend, retention and churn
- Lead investor and board communications alongside our CEO, and support our CFO on the debt-financing side of the business
- Influence where we deploy capital as we grow, including US expansion and future international opportunities, which could involve new partnerships or M&A
- Act as a second line of defence on commercial decisions. You'll challenge pricing, stress-test liquidity and identify where the business is most exposed
- Step back from the mechanics and think about what nobody else is thinking about, then turn that into practical guardrails that protect the business without slowing it down
- Take on the hardest cross-functional problems, often ones with no blueprint and no obvious owner. You'll define the problem, test the data, run the numbers and distil a huge amount of complexity into a clear solution, and work the business to implement it
- Get things done across functions. You'll unblock decisions and make the call rather than letting analysis stall progress
- Use AI tools and SQL to self-serve your own data and analysis, so you can answer strategic questions quickly without waiting on anyone else
- Be able to roll your sleeves up and dive in yourself when it matters. Being in Strategic Finance means being across the detail
- Build your impact quickly. In your first 3 months you'll get fully across the model, owned by one of your direct reports, the complexity of our capital structure and your key stakeholders. By 6 months you'll be driving the planning cycle and business partnering, and by 12 months you'll be a trusted voice at the top table, shaping how we expand.
You’ll Succeed With
- At least 10 years experience, with a minimum of 4-5 years in investment banking building financial models in M&A or advisory. You must also have 3+ years experience as an operator at a high-growth startup or scale-up (ideally Series B or later). We're looking for both
- Experience modelling balance-sheet-heavy or leveraged businesses, such as leasing, asset finance, infrastructure, or project finance, where long-horizon cash flows, depreciation and debt drive the answer
- A strong command of complex financial modelling. You should understand a large model with many moving parts well enough to guide others through changes and dive in yourself
- Hands-on daily use of AI tools for data analysis, not just awareness
- SQL experience, or the willingness and ability to pick it up quickly. You'll need it to get to the right data
- A practical, decisive approach to cross-functional work. You can spot what's blocking progress, make the call and move on
- Curiosity that goes deep. You understand the detail well enough to see how the pieces connect, and you can raise the risks and questions others haven't thought of
- Evidence of identifying a problem yourself and driving the change, rather than waiting to be handed a brief
- You need to proactively set direction for Strategic Finance and get what you need from across the business
- A direct, clear communicator who is comfortable in front of senior leadership, the board and investors
- Comfort with hard work, high ownership and fast-changing priorities, where the answer isn't always obvious.
- A genuine enjoyment of complexity and an ambition to grow with the business, having an outsized impact on our direction as we go global
- The ability to develop and motivate technically strong direct reports while staying hands-on yourself
