Full Stack Software Engineer
Role Overview:
Want to solve unique, large scale, highly complex technical problems? Pivotal is seeking an experienced full-Stack Software Engineer to play a crucial role in supporting and scaling our products. The role will work cross-functionally to enhance agile delivery capability for the company, ensuring our customers get access to valuable data & analytics quickly, efficiently and accurately. It will be high visibility and impactful in building and scaling our data & analytics platform. Join us in providing the data people and companies need to invest in positive outcomes for nature!
Responsibilities:
- Full stack web/mobile application development, from database, to API, to front-end.
- Create APIs in Python that interface to both relational databases and cloud storage systems.
- Interface with open-sources systems that support geospatial analysis and expert annotation e.g. QGIS, Label Studio.
- Design and build front ends for management, reporting and monitoring of our data pipelines, field work and reports for clients.
- Design and manage relational databases (PostgreSQL).
- Collaborate with the team to continuously improve the reliability, observability and scaling of critical data processing systems.
- Work as part of a small agile team and taking responsibility for testing, documentation and peer-review of pull requests.
- Cultivate a culture of collaboration, impact, innovation, and health.
You should apply if you have:
- 4-6 years’ experience in Python frameworks such as Django or Flask and are comfortable working across the full stack from database, to API, to front-end.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL use for data analysis and the ability to write clean, reproduceable and well-documented code. Experience with Typescript & React a plus.
- Proficiency using Git for version control and experience of code review processes.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team engineering and product-focused team, with the flexibility required as part of a small engineering team in a fast-paced start-up environment.
- A love for resolving complex problems and taking a proactive approach to analysing issues and generating solutions.
- Experience improving quality through thoughtful code reviews, appropriate testing, proper rollout, monitoring, and proactive changes.
- A highly analytical and technical mindset with an interest in deploying tech to optimise it to meet our needs.
- A positive attitude, ability to handle multiple projects, the self-motivation to learn by doing and able to quickly acquire new technical skills and domain knowledge.
- A passion for the preservation of nature and an entrepreneurial mindset and passion for building and growing a successful company, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- (Ideally) a base in the UK or Western Europe.
