Today, fertility clinics help people make babies. One of the bottlenecks of fertility is the embryology lab. It is an extremely laborious manual process, as embryos are made by hand. At Overture we are automating the embryology lab in order to make IVF more available, affordable and reliable. Overture is a global start up with offices in US, UK and Spain which aims to revolutionize embryology.

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. The candidate must have extensive proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Catia, or similar programs. Additionally, the candidate should possess a comprehensive understanding of various prototyping and manufacturing methods, including CNC machining, injection molding, and 3D printing, with the ability to adapt designs to suit different manufacturing techniques. Experience in the design-to-manufacturing process is essential, along with hands-on capabilities to design experiments for validating their own designs.

Responsabilities & duties

  • Take part in R&D activities while collaborating with cross-functional teams in an innovative and multidisciplinary environment to translate tasks and specifications into effective solutions.
  • Design mechanical components and systems utilizing CAD software.
  • Draft part and assembly drawings, writing assembly instructions and other manufacturing line documents..Conduct V&V activities and document processes.
  • Support the NPI processes , ensuring seamless transition from design to production.
  • Continuous improvement and problem solving in the manufacturing process of the company’s products
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 13485 and IEC 60601 standards in the design of medical devices, with some prior experience in this domain being desirable.

Requirements

  • B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering and 3-5 Years of experience in mechanical design of electro-mechanical products.
  • Extensive experience with CAD software, particularly SolidWorks, Catia, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in various prototyping and manufacturing methods, including CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal and 3D printing.
  • Demonstrated experience in DFM, with a track record of successful projects.
  • Hands-on capability to design and conduct experiments for design validation.
  • Experience with drafting,GD&T and tolerance calculation.
  • Experience with configuration control, engineering data management, NPI and manufacturing operations support.
  • Previous employment at a medical device company along with familiarity with ISO 13485 and IEC 60601 standards is advantageous.
  • Knowledge or experience in microfluidics is a plus.
  • Prior experience in plastic injection molding is highly appreciated.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities.
  • Capacity to thrive in an innovative and multidisciplinary work environment.
  • Ability to effectively translate tasks and specifications into practical solutions.
