A day in the life
We’re looking for a proactive Staff Accountant to join the ManyPets Finance team. You’ll play a key role in strengthening our financial controls, ensuring the accuracy of our balance sheet, and supporting a smooth and reliable month-end close.
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this is a hands-on role at the heart of our core finance processes. It’s ideal for someone detail-oriented, structured, and confident owning reconciliations and controls end-to-end.
You’ll join a fast-paced, collaborative, mission-driven environment where finance is a true partner to the business.
Your responsibilities
- Own monthly balance sheet reconciliations (AR, AP, payroll, VAT, fixed assets, accruals, prepayments, intercompany) and resolve variance.
- Reconcile brokerage receivable accounts and monitor revenue accruals/deferral.
- Maintain the fixed asset register, post depreciation, and reconcile balance.
- Review and reconcile VAT workings and support preparation of VAT return.
- Prepare and post month-end journals and review the trial balance for anomalies.
- Support UK CAC, MMA and other management reporting packs.
- Prepare balance sheet audit schedules and provide supporting documentation.
Your skills and experience
- ~2–3 years of experience in a financial operations, financial accounting or similar role.
- Part or fully qualified with a recognised accounting body (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, AAT etc) and we’ll support study if you’re part qualified.
- Strong reconciliation skills and a solid understanding of core balance sheet processes.
- Confident with Excel – able to manage large datasets and build clear, structured working files.
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Comfortable working to month-end deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Hands-on attitude – willing to dig into details while maintaining robust controls.
- Nice to have – experience with VAT, fixed assets, intercompany, or audit preparation; exposure to insurance or other regulated sectors.
The interview process
This position has a three-step interview process, which will be held via Zoom.
Stage 1 – an informal meeting with our Talent team. We’ll introduce the role and explore how your experience aligns with what we’re looking for.
Stage 2 – you’ll meet the Senior Accountant and Group Financial Controller. This stage focuses on your technical skills and problem-solving approach. We may include a short
case or practical discussion around balance sheet controls.
Stage 3 – you’ll meet the CFO to further evaluate your fit for the organisation. It may include a short scenario-based discussion to understand your judgment and approach
to strengthening financial controls.
Ways of working
On a typical day you’ll be working from a laptop with a screen, mouse, keyboard, and headset. You’ll be meeting your colleagues on Zoom and keeping in touch regularly via email and Slack too – we’d expect you to be using your computer for around seven hours a day. We’d ask that you have a distraction-free work area and a reliable internet connection with a speed of 25Mbps so you can work effectively. We’ll make sure you have the right home set-up that supports you in the role by providing best-in-class technology, money towards a desk, and vision support.
