The Role

Located in Haverhill, the KatKin Kitchen is where our fresh, 100% human-quality meat food is gently cooked and frozen. We are looking for exceptional Hygiene Operatives who are passionate about delivering the highest standards of hygiene, ensuring compliance to legislation, microbiological and visual hygiene & food safety standards.

This role is typically Monday to Friday 10pm - 6am, but may require flexibility on days/evenings/nights or weekends to carry out the deep cleaning.

Key ownership areas

Reporting into the Hygiene Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out daily cleaning tasks, deep cleans of machinery & equipment and surrounding work areas (walls, ceilings, drains, ventilation)

  • Post cleaning checks to make sure everything has been completed to the highest quality, consistency and food safety standards appropriate for a high care chilled/ frozen meat food manufacturing site in line with company procedures

  • Document and report any site, machinery or equipment maintenance required to Hygiene Manager

  • Replenishing of cleaning and hygiene consumables in the kitchen

  • Ensuring that all hygiene and cleaning paperwork is correctly completed

  • Operating and maintaining machinery & equipment in a safe and efficient manner (sometimes working in confined spaces & at height from time to time)

  • To take reasonable care for their own health and safety and other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work

Who we are looking for:
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a food hygiene operative role

  • Have a good understanding of hygiene standards and usage of cleaning chemicals (Food Safety and Hygiene Level 2 a bonus, but not required)

  • Have a working level of speaking and reading English

  • Able to understand and work with numbers

  • Have a strong organised way of working, with the ability to work without supervision

  • The ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team

  • Be comfortable working with raw protein (lamb, chicken, pork, duck, fish)

  • Ability to work with chemicals and in a physical role

  • Passionate about food safety and hygiene
