Your mission
As our Legal Counsel, the primary purpose of your role is to serve as a key advisor and facilitator in achieving legal compliance, to mitigate risks, and to safeguard the interests of the company.

The Legal Counsel is responsible for providing expert advice on a wide range of legal matters, as well as drafting and reviewing agreements, handling complex administrative matters in the legal and/or corporate governance area, and managing legal disputes when necessary.

This position requires a keen understanding of ICT- and cybersecurity laws, business and commercial law, as well as corporate laws, preferably in combination with expertise in other relevant areas of law, such as finance, employment or KYC compliance. The position requires excellent analytical, writing and communication skills, and the ability to explain complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
What you’ll be doing
  • Legal advisory: Provide timely and accurate legal advice to internal stakeholders, on a wide range of legal matters, including ICT- and cybersecurity laws, commercial laws, intellectual property rights, corporate laws, employment law, regulatory compliance and litigation.
  • Contract management: Draft, review and negotiate (legal terms of) various types of agreements and other legal documents, with the aim of protecting the company’s interests and minimizing risks.
  • Corporate governance: Administer corporate governance matters such as the shareholders register, UBO register and corporate filings; and facilitate the organizations and Board of Director’s compliance with corporate governance requirements.
  • Compliance: Keep track of regulatory changes relevant to the company’s operations and encourage compliance with applicable legal requirements and ethical standards throughout the business. Develop and implement policies and compliance programs as necessary.
  • Risk management: Identify potential legal risks and propose strategies to mitigate such risks. Collaborate proactively with other departments to address legal issues and implement risk management measures.
  • Training and education: Develop and provide training on legal, compliance and governance topics, to increase awareness, promote compliance and mitigate risks throughout the business.
  • Dispute resolution: Manage and resolve legal disputes, by means of negotiation, litigation, arbitration, mediation or otherwise. Represent the organization in official communications and legal proceedings as applicable.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other members of the legal department; as well as cross-functional teams, to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. Coordinate with and supervise external counsel as needed.
What you’ll bring
  • Master of Laws.
  • Fluent in both English and Dutch.
  • Relevant experience as an attorney, legal consultant or inhouse counsel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Interest and willingness to learn and understand the cybersecurity and platform collaboration industry, as necessary to translate legal requirements into hands-on advice.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to learn on a continuous basis.
