Commercial Real Estate Transactions Lead - UK

The Team

We’re hiring quickly and consciously and as a foundational hire, you’re going to make a massive impact on how this team establishes itself. You’ll report to the Commercial Real Estate lead and collaborate closely with the entire company. At this stage and size, there’s truly only one team.

We’re also hiring across the board - you'll collaborate closely with each member of the InRange team.

What you’ll do

Engaging with various landlords, tenants and, also, consultants to fully utilise their rooftop and any available space in their portfolio for onsite renewable generation.

There is over 50 billion sq ft of commercial and industrial rooftop space in the UK alone - with less than 5% of that utilised for renewable energy generation and we are looking to fully utilise the remaining rooftop space.

Manage your own pipeline of prospects from lead generation to paying customers. Create a database of prospects and target customers with complete contact information. Conduct product demonstrations encompassing both technical and non-technical aspects of the product offer. Identify new business opportunities but also include your existing network and other partnerships.

Supporting product development team with client feedback and personal input Maintain accurate and complete customer records, and activity and pipeline reports. Achieve and report on key KPIs agreed with the CEO & Head of CRE.

Building TRUST and valuable partnerships

The starting point is to develop an intimate knowledge and relationship with various property companies from REITS, developers, investment managers, etc. alongside and with their tenants to better understand their needs and pain points when it comes to energy and operational carbon. We need you to be the driving force and subject matter expert when it comes to site acquisition for the purpose of on-site generation such as roof-top solar, battery and wind etc. An initial focus on the UK, but ultimate responsibility may extend to more European markets - Belgium, Czechia, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Spain. You will lean on your existing network for meetings with decision-makers at various property firms, along with commercial real estate agents and climate-focused consultancies across Europe.

Generate business opportunities and help close them

Business development at InRange has an element of sales. You need to have the ability to sell, and have a fervent belief in our product and its capability. In doing so you will be selling major REITS and tenants on high-profile long-term licensing and/or lease agreements for onsite renewable energy generation on some of the biggest schemes in the market, predominantly across industrial & business parks.

The focus will be working with diverse stakeholders to add new sites onto InRange's platform through generating new rooftop models and site-acquisition opportunities, leveraging new and existing client relationships. That means identifying and acquiring sites for renewable energy development on a constant and consistent basis. Developing partnerships with property investors and developers to scale InRange's offering alongside their existing real estate portfolio. For us to continue to evolve our product, you will solicit customer feedback/insights and relay that to Product/Operations in an efficient way.

You’re experienced

We are looking for someone to hit the ground running and who has personal credibility in the industry. Having 6+ years of experience in UK (or European) commercial real estate acquisition, leasing or development, along with a strong network, is critical.

Demonstrated ability to convert prospects and close deals while maintaining established sales targets, with proven track record of success in B2B sales and passion for selling and enthusiastic self-starter with a “can do” attitude. Your ability to deal with ambiguous environments is something that is key to your success.

Collegiate and dynamic personality; team-focussed first, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate (oral and written) effectively.

If you have commercial renewable solution sales and a general understanding of utility tariffs, PPAs, solar pricing and/or financial return modelling that will help you but are not essential.

Excellent research, planning and organisation skills will be required.

Preferred but not essential:

  • Asset class-specific background: retail, retail warehousing, logistics, data centres

  • Experience with on-site building surveying

  • Financial modelling experience

  • Familiarity with tech go-to-market strategies

  • Understanding of energy markets; UK ideally

  • Tech & data savvy and proficient in the use of a range of communication, presentation and other business tools;

This is a location specific role but we have a flexible, remote, or office working environment. For this role, we require someone to be based in the UK and have the understanding and experience of debt financing within the UK and Europe.
