Leads a team of software engineers operating in an agentic development environment. Responsible for setting the workflow architecture, tooling standards, and coaching culture that enables engineers to orchestrate AI coding agents effectively, shipping more, with higher quality, at pace. Focused on providing customer outcomes.

Essential Functions

  • Implements outcomes, resourcing and process improvements for team and function
  • Identifies gaps and sets technical strategy for the team
  • Participates in cross-functional initiatives and leadership meetings
  • Drives the evolution of engineering standards and practices across the department, with particular focus on agentic ways of working
  • Provides mentoring to engineers, identifying individual growth needs, including the shift from individual implementer to agent orchestrator
  • Accomplishes results through professional engineers by setting timelines, priorities based on project outcomes, and oversight of ongoing assignments
  • Leads the adoption and continuous improvement of agentic engineering workflows across the team (could include multi-agent session management, Git Worktree-based parallelization, and agent-authored PR review standards)
  • Sets and tracks agentic productivity metrics for the team: epic throughput per sprint, CI pass rates on agent-authored PRs, and rework ratios
  • Enables engineers to operate as orchestrators of agents rather than sole implementers, shifting the team's identity from individual contributors to outcome owners
  • Evaluates and integrates AI tooling (Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent) into the team's standard development workflow, establishing guardrails, review standards, and escalation paths
  • Maintains awareness of emerging AI and agentic engineering trends to inform continuous learning and innovation across the team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience and 2+ years of management experience or combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in more than one major programming language
  • Deep understanding of the foundation of software engineering principles, including system design, architecture, and development practices
  • Proven success in a fast-paced development environment, with a focus on improving development practices and processes to enhance team efficiency, collaboration, and code quality in a large-scale organization
  • Proven success as a coach and mentor of technical staff
  • Ability to motivate yourself and others, prioritize your own work, and adapt and thrive in a dynamic team environment
  • Excellent problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences

Desired

  • Experience with the AWS preferred or Azure, GCP or Salesforce Platform
  • Experience with parallel workstream tooling (example Git Worktrees)
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering principles as applied to software development workflows
  • Prior exposure to agentic frameworks such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or equivalent

  • M3 Manager oversees M2, M1, P3, P2, P1 and S5 - S1 roles
