Overview of the Role:
Working within a small team, you will contribute to building and testing new strawberry picking robots as well as repairing, refurbishing and upgrading our existing fleet.
- Mechanical and electrical assembly with PCBAs, sensors, cables, motors and transmission mechanisms. This will be following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) deployed in cellular manufacturing utilising standardised work.
- System test on newly assembled modules and whole robots, including active performance measurement and diagnostic fault finding.
- Test and diagnosis of issues on Installed Based (IB) equipment as part of our Repair, Refurbishment and Upgrade (RRU) process. This may be as simple as wear part replacement, a software update or a major dismantling and rebuild with a mechatronic subsystem replacement.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Build and test of new modules and robots as described above following SOPs in which you will be trained
- Carry out activities in our RRU processes on our IB as described above
- Receive on the job lean manufacturing and problem solving training
- Participate in our 5s works organisation and daily management (short interval control) stand-up meetings
- Raise and resolve bugs involving rework and problem solving of both our products and processes
- Operate our inventory processes and identify exceptions to its operation
- Participate in kaizen improvement events
Characteristics, skills and experience we are looking for:
- Post-18 study in an engineering / science subject – or an ambition to do so!
- Hands-on technical experience in a related field
- Interest in manufacturing & technology
- Mechanical dexterity
- Disciplined with strong sense of urgency
- Problem solving skills
- Good work ethic and ability to work as part of a team
- Eligible to work in the UK
