Company Description
Depop is a peer-to-peer circular fashion marketplace where anyone can buy, sell and discover secondhand fashion. Our mission is simple: to make fashion circular by making secondhand as exciting and rewarding as buying new.
Founded in 2011, Depop’s diverse community has helped move resale into the mainstream, where buying secondhand is no longer an alternative, but how people of different ages now engage with fashion. Today, more than 56 million registered users come to Depop to find great value, express their own personal style and give clothes a longer life. We believe that everything you want already exists, and our role is to help people discover it.
Powered by a team of over 500 people, our company is headquartered in London, with offices in New York. In 2021, Depop became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Etsy - the global marketplace for unique and creative goods - and continues to operate as a standalone company. We aim to create an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome, no matter who they are or where they’re from. Just as our platform connects people globally, we believe our workplace should reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. We thrive on the power of different perspectives and experiences, knowing they drive innovation and bring us closer to our users.
We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer, providing employment opportunities without regard to age, ethnicity, religion or belief, gender identity, sex, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy or maternity, marriage and civil partnership, or any other protected status. We’re continuously evolving our recruitment processes to ensure fairness and are open to accommodating any needs you might have.
AI Disclosure: We use AI tools (Google Gemini) to help our team source and review applications for roles with a high volume of applications. These tools assist our recruiters in identifying great talent but do not replace human decision-making. At Depop, every hiring decision is made by a human.

We’re looking for a Product Designer to join the New Seller Experience team at Depop, part of our Supply pillar.
This is a fixed-term contract of approximately 12 months, covering maternity leave.
In this role, you’ll help more new users make their first sale. A number of new listers never make a sale in their first six months, yet we know a fast first sale is the strongest predictor of long-term seller success.
You’ll design the experiences that change this: a simpler seller onboarding, a guided first seller experience,, seller milestones that build motivation and momentum, and trust signals that make new sellers more appealing to buyers.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about seller growth, onboarding and activation, and motivational design. Our guiding principle for new users is to simplify: one step at a time, step-by-step flows over long forms, and introducing powerful features only once users are ready for them.
We’re looking for someone adaptable across domains, a fast learner, and skilled at distilling a sophisticated selling product down to an experience a first-time seller can succeed with. This is a unique opportunity to shape how Depop sets up every new seller for success from their very first session.
You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional partners (Product, Engineering, Data, Research, and CRM) to create solutions that balance growth goals with outstanding user experiences.
Responsibilities
Design end-to-end experiences across the new seller journey, including seller onboarding, new lister experience, seller milestones, and trust signals.
Partner with Product, Research, and Data teams to deeply understand new seller and buyer needs, turning insights into actionable design.
Champion simplicity for new users: focus on one key action at a time, favour step-by-step flows, and educate users on photos, pricing, descriptions, shipping and payments at the right moment.
Apply motivational and behavioural design (targets, progress, streaks, milestones) to help new sellers build listing habits and reach their first sale.
Continuously iterate and improve new seller experience flows based on experimentation, research, and performance data.
Champion high-quality craft, UI consistency, and system thinking across products.
Contribute to defining the New Seller Experience team’s design strategy and roadmap in alignment with Depop’s broader Supply goals.
Requirements
Experience designing user experiences for iOS, Web and Android
A good understanding of mobile and desktop UX and UI patterns
Demonstrated experience with end-to-end product design (UX & UI)
Proficiency in UX / UI tools (Figma, Claude etc.)
Effective prototyping skills (Figma, Figma Make, Claude, Cursor)
A portfolio showing high-quality, thoughtful UX and UI work
Ability to translate user research, user testing and data insight into design directives
Ability to tell compelling arguments about your design proposals
Ability to facilitate and run cross-functional workshops
Experience working on a design and product strategy to determine the team’s and product direction
Able to hit the ground running and deliver impact within a fixed-term engagement
Proficiency in AI tools.
Good to have (but not essential)
Experience designing onboarding, activation, or first-time user experiences
A strong grasp of motivational design and gamification patterns (milestones, streaks, progress, rewards)
Ability to design flows and experiences that simplify and distil complex actions into usable interfaces
An understanding of e-commerce and/or marketplace dynamics, and platform to user, user to user, and user to platform interactions
