We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer, providing employment opportunities without regard to age, ethnicity, religion or belief, gender identity, sex, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy or maternity, marriage and civil partnership, or any other protected status. We’re continuously evolving our recruitment processes to ensure fairness and are open to accommodating any needs you might have.

We’re looking for a Senior User Researcher to join our UX research team to help us understand our users, their needs and create delightful user experiences across our product. You’ll be comfortable scoping out, designing and undertaking robust investigations, as well as disseminating actionable insights to help bring the voice of our customers to the core of our organisation and product.

At Depop, research underpins our design process end-to-end. You'll be working side-by-side with fellow researchers, designers, product managers, copy writers and analysts to shape the future of fashion.

In addition to being adept at a wide range of methodologies (from ethnography, depth interviews and diary studies to surveys and usability testing) you’ll also understand how to synthesise data from multiple sources into compelling, actionable insights and advocate for user needs in a rapid-paced, high growth environment.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of end-to-end research delivery; from understanding where our knowledge gaps are, gathering the questions and hypotheses, planning and executing the research all the way through to analysing and sharing your findings with the team

  • Work closely with product managers, designers, engineers and other user researchers to generate hypotheses and plans for high-impact research to help us better understand our users and help us create a better product

  • Lead the research for a product area, suggesting the best approach and methods to use so we’re capturing the right insights that help us grow and develop our product

  • Autonomously carry out research from tactical to strategic using a wide range of research methods, e.g. remote interviews, ad-hoc surveys, unmoderated research.

  • Evaluate and explore information architecture, using tree-tests, card-sorts and whatever other methods are appropriate

  • Collaborate closely with our analytics team to make sure our qualitative insights are also enhanced by robust quantitative analysis whenever possible, and run some basic quantitative analysis yourself using our internal behavioural tools or surveys.

  • Communicate research findings to inform business decisions through the best possible means ranging from presentations, workshops, reports or any other method that gets the insights into our decision-making

  • Educate and advocate for UX research across the organisation

  • Collaborate in the continuous improvement of the research team processes and best-practices

  • Contribute to the growth and skill development of more junior research team members

Requirements

  • A senior UX researcher with a strong portfolio demonstrating a wide range of qual and quant methods e.g. in exploratory, generative and evaluative research

  • Experienced in delivering autonomously and to the highest quality standards

  • 5 years + of experience in advocating for and delivering UX Research in different environments

  • Effective in seeking out, building and maintaining strong and trusting relationships with key stakeholders across the business

  • Effective and compelling communicator: Collate and disseminate various threads of insights into easy-to-digest and actionable recommendations

  • You are able to communicate research findings clearly, accurately and in a compelling way utilising a variety of written and visual formats
