The Role:

The Research Data Science Manager at CoMind will lead a team of highly talented and experienced data scientists and machine learning engineers and report directly to the Chief Scientific Officer. The Research Data Science team is responsible for all of CoMind’s extensive research and development in signal processing, new algorithm development, experimental data analysis, clinical data analysis, statistics, simulation, and machine learning model development. CoMind is at an extremely exciting stage of development where clinical data collection and machine learning development are about to ramp up dramatically.

Responsibilities:

• Managing, mentoring and supporting a team of highly talented data scientists and machine learning engineers

• Prioritising, leading and delivering projects to optimise device signal quality through innovative signal conditioning and pre-processing approaches at high velocity

• Overseeing all clinical data management, processing, and analysis, including contributing to and implementing clinical trial statistical analysis plans

• Overseeing all machine learning model development

• Working closely with the software development team to ensure the effective and efficient handover of data science methods for implementation in product software

• Working closely with our experimental research teams to support the analysis and interpretation of novel experimental data

• Ensuring all processes, methods, and analysis are consistent with best practices in medical device software development and are appropriately documented in CoMind’s quality management system

• Working with the Chief Scientific Officer to help define and direct CoMind’s wider scientific strategy

• Making key contributions to CoMind’s academic research outputs, staying on top of all relevant academic literature, and translating key developments into practice within CoMind systems

• Communicating and championing the innovations of the Research Data Science team to the Senior Leadership Team and across the wider company

• Instilling and representing CoMind’s values of Velocity, Simplicity, Ownership, Curiosity, and Customer Obsession.

Skills & Experience:

• Extensive experience managing high-performing data science teams in fast-paced environments, delivering complex projects and analyses on time

• Extensive experience in the analysis and interpretation of physiological, biological, or medical data or images

• A fluency across modern machine learning methodologies, with clear examples where you have put this knowledge into practice

• An extremely strong academic track record in a data-science heavy specialty

• Extensive experience across the Python data science ecosystem and familiarity with best-practices in the versioning and warehousing of both code and ML models

• Extensive experience in managing projects within an Agile framework

• Outstanding communication skills, particularly in the presentation of highly complex, multi-dimensional scientific data to audiences with a wide range of backgrounds.
