A day in the life

As a Strategy Associate at ManyPets, you’ll support the execution of strategic corporate initiatives. In this role, you will play a crucial part in our growth strategy, collaborating with various stakeholders as a member of the Finance and Strategy team. As a data-driven organisation, we value your ability to produce both financial and non-financial analyses, creating models and materials that yield valuable business insights. Your contributions will enhance business analyses, promote objective decision-making, align efforts with organisational goals, and drive significant impact across our portfolio.

Reporting to the Strategy Manager, you will engage in cross-functional projects aimed at generating and monitoring strategy and performance metrics. Your responsibilities will include preparing for quarterly Board meetings and strategy sessions with the Leadership Team. Specific projects may involve analysing our operating model and returns in specific regions, evaluating M&A opportunities or fundraising initiatives, and modelling the impacts of our expansion into new channels.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop and analyse scenarios to support the long-term financial plan, assessing risks and potential outcomes associated with strategic decisions.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to project future revenues, costs, and profitability.
  • Provide clear, data-driven recommendations to guide decision-making.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of our long-term goals, collaborating with key stakeholders across the organisation to define strategic priorities and initiatives.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the success of strategic initiatives.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify industry trends, opportunities, and threats.
  • Monitor competitor activities and evaluate their impact on business operations.
  • Compare the company's performance and offerings against those of competitors.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports to communicate findings, recommendations, and progress to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Work with our leaders to prepare and compile our Board meeting materials.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure strategic projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Communicate project progress and outcomes to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure that strategic initiatives comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Stay updated on changes in the regulatory landscape and assess their impact on the company’s strategy.

Your skills and experience

  • You bring a good grounding in in strategy, business analysis, consulting, or similar role.
  • You have enviable analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw actionable insights.
  • Ideally, you have experience working within a regulated business and ideally, some exposure to a start-up or scale-up environment.
  • You’re proficient in Excel and PowerPoint and you’re able to pick up other SaaS apps quickly.
  • You’re known for your adaptability and willingness to learn new concepts and methodologies.
  • We'd love it if you had a relevant degree, however we appreciate not everyone is able to pursue further education. Your life and commercial experience are just as valuable!

The interview process

This position has a three-step interview process, which will be held via Zoom.

  • Stage 1 – an informal meeting with our Talent team. We’ll explain more about the role and how your experience matches up with what we need.
  • Stage 2 – you’ll meet the Strategy Manager. This will be a longer interview up to an hour and we’ll assess your analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and strategic mindset through behavioural and case interviews.
  • Stage 3 – you’ll meet our Strategy Manager again, plus one of our senior leaders to further evaluate your fit for the role and company. This stage may include more in-depth discussions about your experiences, motivations, as well as additional case studies or a strategic challenges to solve and share with us.

Ways of working

On a typical day you’ll be working from a laptop with a screen, mouse, keyboard, and headset. You’ll be meeting your colleagues on Zoom and keeping in touch regularly via email and Slack too – we’d expect you to be using your computer for around seven hours a day. We’d ask that you have a distraction-free work area and a reliable internet connection with a speed of 25Mbps so you can work effectively. We’ll make sure you have the right home set-up that supports you in the role by providing best-in-class technology, money towards a desk, and vision support.
