Job description for Senior Industry Analyst
Senior Industry Analyst’s responsibility is to cover developments in a portfolio of petrochemical markets.
Assess prices on a daily or weekly basis and produce market intelligence including news as well as in-depth analytical content. Thrive on breaking exclusive news and being the first to get the intelligence out to the market as well as investigating and explaining what this means for our customers.
The role will provide exposure and opportunities to engage with industry contacts. Contribute to raising the profile of ICIS as well as build and showcase your market expertise by attending and speaking at industry events, conferences and at client sessions.
Collaborate closely with other business functions at ICIS, contributing ideas and carrying out work on new coverage areas, proposing and analyzing methodology changes and new product ideas with the aim of expanding the ICIS business and meeting our customer needs.

Responsibilities
- Cover a portfolio of petrochemical markets in China /Asia- produce daily and/or weekly price assessments
- Writing insightful news and analysis explaining price trends and direction.
- Proactively chase stories across your portfolio
- Building up and nurturing a wide network of industry contacts, including travel to industry events
- Developing and showcasing expertise on petrochemical markets
- Report on complex topics in an engaging and timely manner, including use of data visualizations
- Deliver market presentations at conferences/client visits
- Coordinating with colleagues regionally and globally to tell a cohesive story of market conditions
Requirements
- Bachelors/Master’s degree in energy, journalism, finance, data science, economics or similar
- Price/commodities reporting, or knowledge of petrochemical/energy/financial markets would be an asset but not required
- Have knowledge of or interest in market economics
- High level of numerical accuracy and experience of working with Excel/Excel-based business tools
- Able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Excellent inter-personal skills, an inquisitive mind, passionate, curious, high-performing, accountable team players
