About our Team
You will be part of the Global Analytics team with members across APAC and EMEA.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical capabilities, with extensive modelling experience and an ability to understand and appreciate market fundamentals and other key market developments pertaining to the base oils market and how it interacts with the oil products. An established knowledge of the refining / base oils interface is highly recommended. The opportunity offers a competitive salary and considerable career potential.
Responsibilities
• Research into and analysis of the base oils markets, with an emphasis on Group I /II/III, through the tracking of various ongoing project investments and closures for ongoing contribution to the company database
• Forecast of demand / market fundamentals across base oils, building on our well-established methodology and models
• Using the above items to develop and update base oil price forecasts
• Closely monitor and assess impact of new or imminent regulatory changes on the base oils market
• Support lead analyst in client relationships
• Contribute to thought leadership across the base oils sector over the long term
Experience required:
• Knowledge of the base oils, including economics, gained from demonstrable experience with a key industry player or other research / consultancy organisation would be advantage
• Understanding around the shifting dynamics within the transportation segment and the impact on base oil product supply / demand preferable
• Degree in engineering, environmental sciences, or other relevant science discipline (preferably chemical engineering) with a Masters / MBA
Key skills required:
• Experience of working in project teams and the ability to work effectively across culturally diverse teams
• Excellent analytical, verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills
• Strong initiative and willingness to learn in an information business environment
• Skilled in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel & PowerPoint and willingness to learn new applications
• Knowledge of modelling methods an advantage
• Knowledge of programming language (e.g. Python, C++, SQL) is highly desirable
• Ability to present and communicate ideas and solutions to clients
• Ability to rationalise, solve and communicate answers to complex problems
