At Automata, we are revolutionizing life sciences through automation—freeing scientists from manual, repetitive tasks so they can focus on groundbreaking discoveries. Our technology bridges robotics, AI, and software to create the next-generation lab automation platform, unlocking efficiency, scalability, and reliability.

From leading NHS trusts to pioneering biotech firms, we are the trusted automation partner for some of the world’s most advanced scientific institutions. And now, we’re looking for a Product Quality Analyst II to ensure that every product we release exceeds expectations, delivers frictionless user experiences, and sets new benchmarks for quality.

Why This Role is a Game-Changer

🔬 Quality is Everything—And You’ll Be at the Center of It

Automation in life sciences is only as effective as the reliability, precision, and usability of the systems behind it. In this role, you will be a guardian of product quality—running real-world, end-to-end tests that guarantee seamless integrations, superior user experiences, and rock-solid performance.

🛠️ Blend Science, Automation, and Engineering and UX

This is more than a traditional QA role—you will be working across hardware, software, and automation systems, ensuring that our integrated platform delivers flawless user experience and meets real-world performance expectations in some of the most demanding lab environments.

🚀 Directly Impact Scientific Breakthroughs

The quality of our product directly affects the pace of scientific progress. By designing, maintaining, and refining our testing strategies, validation processes, and quality frameworks, you will be instrumental in accelerating automation adoption across the life sciences industry.

Your Mission: To Break Everything!

Your job is to identify and eliminate product issues, reduce risk, and ensure excellence in every software and hardware release, working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to build a world-class testing infrastructure.

Your Core Responsibilities

50% – End-to-End Product Testing

  • Build, maintain, and execute a comprehensive suite of real-world tests that validate our product’s performance.

  • Ensure test coverage across current functionality and new product developments, ensuring every release is robust, stable, and seamless.

📊 10% – Test Reporting & Insights

  • Analyze and communicate test results, offering data-driven recommendations for improvements.

  • Identify patterns, potential failure points, and opportunities for optimization.

🔄 15% – Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization

  • Define and refine testing methodologies to streamline QA processes within Product, Engineering, and Design (PED).

  • Eliminate inefficiencies, introduce automated workflows, and ensure we are always ahead of potential risks.

⚙️ 15% – Tooling & Automation for Quality Excellence

  • Design and develop internal tooling that improves quality assurance, reduces manual overhead, and accelerates test cycles.

  • Integrate advanced automation frameworks to enhance testing accuracy and speed.

🔬 10% – Hardware & Lab Workcell Maintenance

  • Define, maintain, and evolve physical test workcells to reflect the latest product updates and real-world lab environments.

  • Ensure hardware availability, functionality, and performance within Automata’s QA ecosystem.

What We’re Looking For

  • Deep expertise in life sciences instrumentation and automation—you understand how labs work and what they expect from automation.

  • Experience in quality assurance (QA) within software or hardware environments—you know how to design and execute effective tests.

  • A keen eye for UX & Design principles—you don’t just test functionality, you test usability, accessibility, and seamless interactions.

  • A structured, analytical mindset—you thrive on solving complex problems with data-driven approaches.

Bonus Points for:

Software development experience (Drivers, Data Evaluators, JSON workflows, LINQ API/SDK).

✨ Experience working with TestRail or similar test management tools.

✨ Passion for automated testing frameworks—especially in the context of life sciences automation.
