We're building our LINQ platform as a hardware and software platform. This allows us to simplify everyday automation tasks, while supporting more advanced paths for specialised workflows, in a fast, flexible, and cost-efficient way. Supporting the delivery of the LINQ Cloud and LINQ Workcell platform to provide new global multi-tenant and single-tenant environments for our customer

We are looking for a Staff Engineer whose mission is to be the technical leader who specifies and communicates the technical deliverables for our project delivery in our Instruments team.

Why is this role important at Automata?

Automata's engineering team is growing to meet the increased demand for our LINQ automation platform from our customers in the life-sciences industry. We need highly skilled and experienced engineers to capture customer requirements, guide our customer projects and Product Engineering teams toward suitable solutions at the intersection of hardware and software in the life-sciences automation space.

You will be responsible for:

Working as Staff Engineer focusing on integrating instruments. Your role will be split as follows; Strategy 10%, Culture 20%, Execution 70%

  • Technical Leadership, driving delivery and approaches which are appropriate to our organisational stage

  • Help build and strive for a psychologically safe environment for the team

  • Publish and maintain technical documentation for upstream and downstream systems

  • Communicate technical designs to internal and external stakeholders

  • Communicate gaps and risks in the platform to relevant owners and stakeholders

  • Work closely with project managers to plan engineering activities, identify resource requirements and technical risks

  • Break down system requirements into discrete engineering tasks

  • Work with Engineering Managers to prioritise engineering activities and secure the required resources

  • Previous experience leading and developing software solutions on complex projects
